Encore Networks enCloud™ Management System Now Available
Allows Distributed Enterprise Customers to Monitor, Manage and Configure
Encore’s EN™ Routers Through the Cloud
Chantilly, VA – May 4, 2016 - Encore Networks, a leading manufacturer of wireline, cellular, and satellite VPN routers, is now activating customer devices on the enCloud™ Management System. In late January at IoT Expo, Encore announced its cloud-based management application for their EN™ family of wireline and cellular VPN routers. enCloud™ is now commercially available, and as of today six North American distributors have agreements in place to leverage the Enterprise Management System to manage their customer’s enterprise networks.
Several features differentiate enCloud™ from other cloud management systems;
- Intuitive Structure – enCloud™ is built with distributors and end customers in mind. The enCloud™ is structured to mirror the way distributors actually do business with multiple end customers that are administered by one central support team.
- Auto-On-Board - Before a router leaves the factory, Encore pre-loads each router to the distributor inventory of enCloud™.
- Free firmware updates – Firmware updates are included with an enCloud™ subscription.
- Cloud enforceable configurations – If you set a configuration in the cloud, enCloud™ ensures that configuration doesn’t change. enCloud™ also enforces firmware versions.
- Robust monitoring capability through rules, alerts, notifications and dashboards - Easy identification of trouble in your network allows small issues to be corrected before they become big problems.
“The goal is to provide great features that are easy to use,” said Brad Pool, Director of Market Development for Encore Networks. “Distributors can easily assign routers to customer groups as they are deployed. Administrators can then assign devices to a specific firmware or configuration and enCloud will enforce it. Users can set up rules and notifications within customer groups to detect problems. Customer groups, robust monitoring and enforcement options allow you to set up a network with maximum efficiency and keep tabs on it easily.”
Optimized for Encore's EN™ line of routers, enCloud™ tracks more than two dozen parameters for each device. For example, on cellular routers the signal strength and signal-to-noise ratio are recorded every time the device checks in, and can be analyzed to determine when conditions are best to send data. enCloud™ also tracks each router’s LAN and WAN connection status, data sent, and data received. Among the displayed values are IP address, device model, firmware version, signal level, and cellular usage. Each data point carries a time stamp and is saved up to three years to allow for analysis of historical trends.
Encore’s enCloud™ can push new firmware, patches, or configuration updates in bulk to routers selected from the update screen. The operator can sort the router list by different criteria, such as model or firmware version, simplifying the selection process.
To avoid the difficulties of polling from the cloud to devices behind firewalls or network address translation (NAT), enCloud™ receives information over connections initiated by the routers. The firewall or NAT allows packets originating from the inside LAN to set up two-way connections to the Internet. A router sends a short update message at configured intervals. The enCloud™ system uses that connection to return updates to the router. All connections are encrypted securely, avoiding protocols known to have vulnerabilities. Strict partitioning restricts each reseller and customer to view only its own routers.
Mr. Pool continued, “With this cloud management solution, Distributors now have a recurring revenue stream associated with their growing installed base of EN series of routers.”
