Encore Networks Introduces enCloud™ Management System

Allows Distributed Enterprise Customers to Monitor, Manage and Configure
Encore's EN™ Routers Through the Cloud

Chantilly, VA - January 26, 2016 - Encore Networks, a leading manufacturer of wireline, cellular, and satellite VPN routers, today introduced at IoT Evolution Expo, the enCloud™ Management System, a cloud-based application for its EN™ line of wireline and cellular VPN routers. enCloud™ enables users of Encore's EN™ routers to manage, monitor and configure their distributed enterprises from a centralized location through the cloud.

Two features simplify on-boarding routers to the service:

1. AutoOnBoard - Before a router leaves the factory, Encore pre-loads detailed information to the cloud. Data includes the purchaser, so the user sees the Encore routers at the enCloud™ portal with no effort.

2. AutoConfig - Tells a new router to automatically contact the enCloud™ server when first installed. After authenticating itself as one of the pre-loaded devices, the router sets up an encrypted connection, downloads a configuration file, and updates its firmware if needed.

"Ease of use was the design goal," said Brad Pool, Director of Market Development for Encore Networks. "VARS can easily assign routers to the proper group as they are deployed. The end user simply logs in from a browser to see the dashboard that displays the status and summary of the network and then drills down to see the details on each router."

Optimized for Encore's EN™ line of routers, enCloud™ tracks more than two dozen parameters for each device. For example, on cellular routers the signal strength from the connected cell tower is recorded every time the device checks in and is displayed as a graph on the router's detail page. Data sent and received by each router and its WAN and LAN connection status likewise are tracked. Among the displayed values are IP address, MAC address, model, and firmware version. Each data point carries a time stamp and is saved up to three years to allow the display of historical trends.

The enCloud™ can push new firmware, patches, or configuration updates in bulk to any routers selected from the update screen. The operator can sort the router list by different criteria such as model or firmware version to simplify the selection process. Firmware updates from Encore are available at no charge.

To avoid the difficulties of polling from the cloud to devices behind firewalls or network address translation (NAT), enCloud™ receives information over connections initiated by the routers. The firewall or NAT allows packets originating from the inside LAN to set up two-way connections to the Internet. A router sends a short update message at configured intervals. The enCloud™ system uses that connection to return updates to the router. All connections are encrypted securely, avoiding protocols known to have vulnerabilities. Strict partitioning restricts each reseller and customer to view only its own routers.

"enCloud is the perfect solution for the rapidly growing number of EN™ routers devoted to mission-critical M2M applications," Mr. Pool continued. "There is no practical limit on the number of routers under management or the number of customer dashboards."

Encore's enCloud™ Management System will be on display live at the IoT Evolution Expo * Ft. Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center * Ft. Lauderdale, FL * January 26-28 * Booth #1907
