Encore Networks Routers First to be Certified for Category 1 LTE on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Network
Utility Hardened and Commercial Grade EN™ Routers Certified for M2M/IoT Applications and 2G Replacement
Chantilly, VA - September 9, 2015 - Encore Networks, a leading manufacturer of wireline, cellular, and satellite VPN routers, today announced at CTIA Super Mobility 2015 that their EN™ series of routers has been certified compliant for Category 1 (CAT1) service on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE nationwide network. CAT1 is low-cost, low-power and is ideal for numerous M2M and IoT devices that don't require the high throughput of the more expensive CAT 3 and 4 LTE solutions. The CAT1 solution is available on both the EN-4000™ and the new, low cost EN-1000™ routers.
"New CAT1 LTE chipset platforms and modules have dropped prices to help create momentum for LTE which has taken on greater importance in the exploding M2M and IoT markets," said Krishna Ragireddy, Vice-President of Engineering for Encore Networks. "CAT1 is a simpler transport which makes it the perfect solution for industries requiring lower data throughput and LTE's low latency."
Optional modules inserted into the EN-4000™ provide not only additional switched Ethernets and direct fiber termination but also legacy interfaces such as a T-1 CSU, high-speed serial ports, and analog audio channels. The router can also detect external voltages or contact closures which are delivered as individual output voltage signals.
"This Verizon certification demonstrates the ability of CAT1 to co-exist with other higher-performance LTE devices. These low-cost solutions, certified for use on the world's leading LTE network, will accelerate adoption of single-mode LTE for numerous wireless applications," Mr. Ragireddy continued. "CAT1 is the cost effective solution to accelerate the migration to LTE for millions of deployed 2G connections."
Encore's hardened routers meet the demands of M2M and IoT applications in the harshest of network environments including utilities, railways, industrial, digital signage and remote sensors. EN™ routers provide high-availability, broadband wireless connectivity with integral IP routing, VPN, Firewall, Ethernet Switching and Legacy protocol to IP interworking.
This announcement coincides with the CTIA Super Mobility Expo held at the Sands in Las Vegas, September 9-11. See Encore Networks (Booth #5738) in the M2M Pavilion.
