First Sprint Certified CAT 1 Router for IoT Applications
Chantilly, VA – April 9, 2018
Encore Networks today announced that after rigorous compatibility testing, the EN-1000™ router has been certified for use on the Sprint LTE Category 1 (CAT 1) network. The EN-1000™ is specifically designed for low bandwidth IoT applications.
With the upcoming sunset of 2G and 3G networks, it is essential that end users have a reliable, cost effective cellular replacement which future proofs their investment into the next decade. LTE CAT 1 is an excellent technology choice providing download speeds up to 10 Mbps and upload speeds up to 5 Mbps. LTE CAT 1 provides a low-cost option for cellular connectivity and offers bandwidth for IoT applications that use moderate amounts of data throughput. The EN-1000™ router provides services not available on older equipment using slower cellular technologies, for example; back up/failover for small and medium sized businesses, utilities requiring SCADA and M2M connectivity throughout the GRID, ATM machines, digital signage and point-of-sale.
“IoT is one of the critical business lines in the growing Sprint portfolio,” said Ivo Rook, Senior Vice President of IoT for Sprint. “Sprint continues to be at the forefront of the IoT market, establishing new boundaries for the cellular transport; CAT 1 is one of the solutions that will help Sprint to capitalize on the growth that IoT is experiencing.”
All EN™ routers can be remotely managed and monitored through Encore’s enCloud™ Enterprise Management System. The enCloud™ system displays key information and is scalable for VARs and MSPs with multiple customers and users. enCloud™ supports features such as cellular usage on individual, shared and pooled data plans, restricting or throttling data speeds to prevent overages, no touch deployment for new devices, advanced configuration and a firmware platform that allows scheduled pushes of new features and patches to entire device groups.
“The push to aggressively roll out CAT 1 LTE technology comes as Sprint looks to capitalize on the current and projected IoT boom,” stated Scott Burk, AVP of Sales for Encore Networks. “We are excited that our routers are certified on the Sprint CAT 1 network, and that Encore will be an integral part of Sprint’s efforts to stay a major provider of IoT devices and services. The EN-1000™ provides a path forward in expanding IoT markets addressing the needs of millions of devices in the enterprise and industrial markets”.
